Who Our HR Training Courses Suit

Different businesses come to us for different reasons. Here is who each human resources course tends to suit.

SME owners with no HR team. You handle employee relations and people issues yourself, between everything else. A grievance letter lands and there is nobody in the building who has dealt with one before. Training gives you the process before you need it, and sits alongside our HR services for small business if you want ongoing support too.

Line managers and supervisors. Most managers get promoted for being good at the job, not for knowing organisational employment law. They run probation reviews, handle absence, and sit in disciplinary meetings. Few have been trained to do any of it.

HR teams inside larger firms. You know the basics. What you want is a refresher on recent WRC decisions, or a specialist session on one topic for the wider management group. Larger organisations often pair training and development with our HR support for large businesses.

Not sure which fits? Tell us the situation and we will point you to the right one.

Our four programmes cover the points where employment issues usually start. Dignity at Work handles workplace conduct. HR Training for non-HR Managers covers day to day people management. Employee Handbook Training works through handbook policies, and UK Compliance Training deals with UK operations.

Dignity at Work

Employment Equality legislation governs an employer’s obligations surrounding Dignity at Work.

As the modern workforce continues to grow and diversify, it has never been more important for employers to promote an inclusive and dignified business environment. Our Dignity at Work Training programme can be delivered at various levels throughout the organisation, from senior management to employees, and aims to inform attendees of both their rights and responsibilities with regard to Dignity at Work.

HR Training for non-HR Managers

Gain essential HR and People Management knowledge and skills.

Our HR Training for Non-HR Managers programme ensures that attendees get to grips with vital HR Practices and procedures and understand the risks and implications of poor people management. Whether you are looking to brush up on your existing skills, or if you have minimal HR knowledge, our HR Training for Non-HR Managers will ensure that you have the necessary information to protect your organisation.

UK Compliance Training*

It is critical that you have the essential skills and knowledge to correctly manage your UK workforce.

Whether you are setting up in the UK or are already operating an existing entity, our UK Compliance training ensures that all attendees obtain a comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation and employer obligations in order to mitigate legal risk and ensure the smooth management of your workforce.

*excludes Scotland

Employee Handbook Training

Employee Handbooks are a vital document that provide both management and employees with clarity.

As such, it is of critical importance that managers and employees have a comprehensive understanding of the document and its application. Our Employee Handbook programme ensures that attendees get to grips with the key policies and procedures, located within the Employee Handbook.

How Our Human Resources Training Is Delivered

Our HR training courses in Ireland run in three formats. You pick the one that suits your organisation.

On site at your premises

A trainer travels to your workplace and runs the session with your current HR team in the room. This instructor-led training tends to open up discussion, and examples can be drawn from situations your business has actually faced.

Live online sessions

Online learning sessions run over Teams or Zoom. This suits businesses with staff across several sites, remote workers, or teams who cannot lose a full day to travel for HR course training needs.

One to one

A single session for one owner, manager or HR lead. Useful when someone newly working in HR starts managing people, or when a specific issue needs working through in private.

Whichever format you choose for the learning experience, content adapts to your sector, headcount, and the training needs your business has right now. If you are not sure where your gaps sit, an HR audit will show you before you book. UK Compliance training covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It excludes Scotland.

Why Employers Choose The HR Company

Plenty of HR training providers work in Ireland. Here is what separates ours.

Irish owned and Irish based. The HR Company works out of Paramount Court, Corrig Road, Sandyford Business District, Dublin. It trades as Business 2 Enterprise Limited, registered in Dublin under CRO number 331616. Several of the bigger firms in this market are owned in the UK or the United States.

Founded by people who ran HR at scale. Philip Carney and Angela O’Grady set up the business after senior careers at Microsoft’s European Operations Centre. Both still co-own it. You can read more about the team.

ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified. Quality management and information security, both independently audited. Worth knowing when your team will be discussing live employee cases in a training room.

One provider across every HR training service. Training sits alongside our wider human resources support. The same firm that trains your managers can advise them afterwards.

Trainers who handle real cases. The advisors who deliver these sessions also run our WRC support, grievance and disciplinary work, along with workplace mediation. They deal with employee relations and industrial relations issues every week. What our training experts teach on Tuesday came from a case they handled on Monday.

  2. We scope the session. An advisor comes back to confirm group size, format, and which topics to focus on for your organisational goals. If your business has a live issue, say so, and we will build a flexible HR session around it.
  3. We deliver effective HR training in Ireland and the UK and follow up. Training runs with your team. Afterwards, you keep a direct line to the advisor who delivered it.

Frequently Asked Questions

We run four programmes. Dignity at Work covers employer obligations under Employment Equality legislation. HR Training for non-HR Managers gives line managers the people management skills and knowledge they were never taught. Employee Handbook Training walks managers and staff through the policies inside your handbook. UK Compliance Training covers employer duties for businesses operating a UK entity. Each HR training course runs on site, as an online programme, or one to one.

Yes. A trainer travels to your workplace and runs the session there. Most employers prefer this for corporate human resources training because the whole team attends together and nobody loses time to travel. It also lets the trainer use examples drawn from your own business rather than generic scenarios. If your team is spread across sites, the same courses run over Teams or Zoom instead.

Anyone who manages people without an HR career or background. That usually means supervisors, team leads, department managers and owner-managers. These are the people who run probation reviews, handle absence and sit in grievance meetings. Many carry out performance management reviews too, often with no training development or HR career progression behind them. The course builds the HR skills they need and covers the employment law compliance risks that come with getting them wrong.

Yes. UK Compliance Training suits Irish businesses setting up a UK entity or already running one. It covers the relevant legislation and employer obligations for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland is excluded because Scottish employment practice differs enough to need separate handling. If you employ staff in both Ireland and the UK, we can cover both sets of duties.

Yes. Content adapts to your sector and your situation. A hospitality business with high seasonal turnover needs different examples than an accountancy firm with long-tenure staff. Tell the advisor what your business does and what has been causing problems, and the session gets built around that. The core material stays the same. The examples and the emphasis shift.

Often, yes. The four programmes are the ones we run most. Sessions can also take in recruitment and selection, conflict management, talent acquisition, or wider staff training planning. If your organisation has a specific gap, describe it when you enquire. An advisor will tell you whether we cover it or whether another of our HR services fits better.

Fill in the form on this page. Pick your course and whether you want it on site or online, and an advisor will come back to scope it with you. You can also call +353 1 291 1850 or email support@thehrcompany.ie. If you are not sure which of our HR training courses fits, describe the situation, and we will recommend one.

Train Your Managers Before the WRC Does

Most employment claims start with a manager who did not know the procedure. Dignity at Work, HR Training for non-HR Managers, Employee Handbook Training and UK Compliance Training each close one of those gaps. Sessions run at your premises or online, for one person or your whole team. If you want to see where you stand first, start with our WRC inspection checklist.
